Don State Technical University is proud to welcome about 4,000 international students from 79 countries across the CIS, Asia, Africa, and Latin America. They choose a wide range of specializations—from engineering and humanities to economics. The most in-demand fields traditionally include mechanical engineering, information technology, agro-industrial complex, construction, transport systems, and economics.
DSTU has a strong international reputation. Since 1975, our preparatory faculty has been teaching Russian to up to 500 international students annually.
Our multinational university attracts students from around the world primarily through its high-quality education, vast opportunities for self-realization, and personalized approach to every student. The university is constantly evolving, launching new relevant Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD programs in both Russian and English, as well as developing joint degree programs with foreign partner universities.
We actively support talented students from different countries. Each year, DSTU hosts the "I am a Master" Olympiad for prospective Master’s applicants. Winners and prize recipients receive state-funded spots at DSTU allocated by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education—this year, 125 students received such awards. In 2024, the Olympiad was held for the first time in four languages: Russian, English, French, and Spanish. DSTU is the only university in Russia to offer such a wide range of languages for an academic competition.
Our campus also plays a significant role in student life—it offers everything needed for effective studying, research, and sports. Every year, we open new laboratories led by top Russian and international scientists, construct new sports facilities, and operate the largest student residence in the region with modern studio apartments.
Thanks to the university’s reputation as the leading research and educational center in Southern Russia, the joint Don Institute of STU-DSTU was established in 2019 together with Shandong Transportation University. This year, it was recognized as the best Russian-Chinese educational institution. Approximately 120 students are enrolled in the first year annually, and currently, 813 students are studying in three joint programs: "Bridge and Tunnel Construction," "Transportation Management and Logistics," and "Computer Science and Technology." This is an excellent example of DSTU's recognition as a university of global standing.
