Numerical-analytical methods in solid mechanics for functionally graded materials and coatings

Description: 

The research of this scientific group is directed towards development of high-accuracy approximate analytical methods for solution of solid mechanics problems. These methods enable to model mechanical behavior of materials with their properties varying along one of coordinate axes by some functional law. Advantages of the used methodology lies in its applicability for complicated or discontinuous laws. Methods can be used to model behavior of periodic, multilayered (nanocomposite) and continuously inhomogeneous (functionally graded) structures. Significant difference of material properties inside the structure can be considered, i.e. elastic modulus can be 100 times greater or lower in substrate than in the coating. Further research is conducted on accounting for coupled action of mechanical, thermal, electrical fields on such materials. Practical importance of obtained results lies in ability of forecasting performance of modern advanced materials and coatings under severe operating conditions (for example, in heavily loaded lubricated contacts involving complex structured coatings), fracture of functionally graded structures, conducting experimental characterization of advanced materials.

The methodology of mathematical modeling of complex systems with supercomputer technologies

Description: 

Basic scientific research results.

  1. High precision 3D hydrodynamics models building and studying for heat, salinity, suspension, pollution and bottom sediment transportation. Models are stable for depth changing in more than 50-70 times and can predict with high accuracy (meters in horizontal directions and centimeters in vertical direction) harmful and dangerous phenomena coastal and sea systems: oil pollutions, huge free surface elevation, hypoxia, sulfide hydrogen pollution and flooding zones. These models are applicable for ship channel depth changing prediction. Models and calculation methods, including parallel algorithms, are based on motion equations (Navier-Stokes) in all three coordinate axis and take into account complicated relief of bottom and coastal lines, wind tension, water exchange at liquid borders, precipitation events, Coriolis factor, etc. and are completely conservative.
  2. Building and studying 3D plankton populations movement models and bio-geo-chemical cycles for sea and coastal systems describing self-organization effect – creation of stable dissipative structures.
  3. Basing on the developed models of large-scale vortex structures, detection of S-structures in the Sea of Azov as well in coastal systems of the Mediterranean Sea. These so called S-structures are natural traps for all kind of pollutions and are dangerous zones for generation of hypoxia and anaerobic contamination.
  4. Building and studying locally two-dimensional different splitting schemes and parallel methods, efficient as a whole (taking into account information exchange), for solving multidimensional boundary tasks of mathematical physics at computation system with mass parallelism.
  5. Building and studying improved iteration alternate-triangle method of variation-type for solving finite-difference equation with nonself-adjoint operator which has improved convergence speed in case of restricted value of finite-difference Peclet number.
  6. Building and studying precise continuous and digital aerodynamics and transportation models of polluting agents in atmospheric boundary layer.
  7. Building and studying rapidly converging parallel computational methods for solving problems of multiphase fluids filtration in porous at mining of oil fields.

DSTU Research Institute "Vibrotehnology" fulfils developments in the field of highly efficient vibration technologies and technological equipment complex using mechanical and chemical, mechanical and thermo-chemical, mechanical and electro-chemical effects and magnetic field for processing of parts, materials and substances to ensure the required properties of surface and its layer. Provides parts processing at technological operations: cleanup and finishing processing (deburring, edge rounding and polishing, including high-precision parts); cleaning the surface of casted, forged, stamped and heat-treated semi-finished parts and details against cinders, molding materials, corrosion, operational and technological pollutions; operations of grinding, polishing and finishing of the surface roughness to high classes of roughness; vibratory finishing and strengthening and stabilizing treatment of surface by plastic deformation; creation of mechanical-chemical plating (of the solid greasing, galvanizing, oxidation, etc.). Description: 

The scientific direction of "Modern services at regional market" is realized in the framework of the scientific school. Services is a fast developing sector of the economy, as evidenced by the tremendous growth of enterprises providing services. Each year there is a growing demand for the services and quantity of such organizations increases, creating a highly competitive environment in the relevant market. Based on the abovementioned, there is a need in development of modern methods of marketing and institutional analysis that will be focused on audit and monitoring of services provision and as a consequence, mitigation of "bottleneck" areas in services sphere. The total number of publications of our staff is 395 articles, publications indexed in the Russian science citation index – articles 4; publications indexed in scopus – 6 articles; publications in journals included in the State Commission for Academic Degrees and Titles’ list - 12 articles. The team received 10 scientific awards in 2013 - 2015.

DSTU Institute of Service and Entrepreneurship conducts research and performs analytical work devoted to studying the actual state and development prospects of commercial and noncommercial enterprises and organizations, financial-credit system members, local governments, etc. Studied and analyzed the techniques and methods of work, doing large, medium and small businesses, financial and credit mechanisms, features of formation of expenses, accounting policy and management reporting, reducing tax and increasing profitability of economic entities, is working on the development and implementation of systems of personnel management, innovative technologies, programmes client-oriented service, marketing system, etc. These activities are implemented based on actual data specific enterprises in the 2014-2015 academic year departments Isoip executed seven contracts on various topics of research.

The scientific school activities are aimed at fundamentals development of composite and other materials products design, establishing optimal parameters for different material combinations in the design and manufacture of garments, development of theoretical and methodological bases for properties determination of materials for various purposes with the aim to assess their quality, to develop resource-saving, ergonomic packages of heatproof clothes, preserving the given level of thermal resistance, aesthetic and hygienic properties in the process of operation with the aim of improving competitiveness and reducing garments costs made of various materials.

We study possible ways of interdisciplinary researches and recommendations application to the industrial production of special clothing, footwear and multipurpose leather fancy goods with new properties.
