DSTU RECTOR BESARION MESKHI OPENED "SYNERGY" FORUM
September, 4, 2017: the first Youth forum of the student association "Synergy" was held at Don State Technical University.

The Council consisted of Besarion Meskhi, DSTU Rector, Timofei Fetisov, Rector of the Don Theological Seminary Archpriest, Ekaterina Stenyakina, member of the Rostov region Legislative Assembly, Chairman of the Department on Youth Policy, Andrey Kosenko, head of Youth Division of Rostov-on-Don administration. Also Bishop Seraphim Lyuberetsky, Chairman of the Synodal Department for youth Affairs entered the Presidium of the forum Under blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia.

The moderator of the event was deacon Viktor Svistunov, head of Interacademic Student Association "Synergy", professor of DSTU chair "Orthodox culture and theology".

The forum was attended by students of nine universities of the Rostov region: DSTU, Southern Federal University, Rostov State Transport University, Platov South-Russian State Polytechnic University (NPI), Rostov State Medical University, Rostov State University of Economics, Rostov branches of Russian Customs Academy and Russian state institute of cinematography, the Don Theological Seminary, students from other countries, particularly from South America, representatives of Youth Parliament at Legislative Assembly of Rostov region.

The forum was opened by Besarion Meskhi, who highlighted the active educational activity of Don Archdiocese and the personal interest of the Rostov and Novocherkassk mercury Metropolitan in a fruitful educational work with young people.

Interacademic Student Association "Synergy" is the largest permanent student venue in the Rostov region, which aims at a full and harmonious connection of the pedagogical element of education with studying.

Union of education and upbringing became possible in the framework of teaching in DSTU such academic courses as the Ethical Principles and basics of Christian Orthodox culture, taught to students of all faculties of the University.

Today "Synergy" joins together students of Southern Federal University, Rostov State Transport University, Platov South-Russian State Polytechnic University (NPI), as well as Don and the Yakut ecclesiastical seminary. Agreements of cooperation are signed with many universities. Community counts more than 100 people, and the number of participants is up to 5 000 people annually.

"Activities of "Synergy" can form the ideological basis for hundreds of young people, and benefits of this activity we will see very soon, because today's youth are tomorrow's experts in all areas of society. Today we have a chance to form and educate the future generation", — said Timofei Fetisov, Rector of the Don Theological Seminary Archpriest.

Deacon Victor Svistunov told the forum participants about the most important activities of the Association: a discussion platform, projects "Cogito ergo sum", "Throughout Russia", "Wise Space", "Health-Preserving Education", "Synergy’s faces", and the creation of the city's volunteer center.

Information sector of the Interacademic Association made a video about the life of "Synergy" young people.

Each student had an opportunity to ask questions participants of the Presidium. The questions were addressed in oral and written form. The most popular themes of young people were interfaith harmony, intercultural dialogue, church and young people, participation in volunteer projects and many others.

Muslim students thanked DSTU and "Synergy" for the opportunity to participate in Interacademic Student Association and learning about Russian culture, and also they thanked Russian Orthodox Church and its celebrant for attention paid to work with young people, not only Orthodox, but also representatives of other faiths.
