DSTU KEEPS ITS PRESENCE IN ONE OF THE MOST PRESTIGIOUS WORLD RANKINGS
DSTU is included the group of universities that takes places from 251-st to 300-th in the ranking QS EECA 2019 - Emerging Europe and Central Asia.
The ranking agency Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) has published an annual universities ranking Emerging Europe and Central Asia 2020. This year, QS became the largest in its history: there were evaluated 568 universities and officially published the results for the 350 best universities. In total, 105 Russian universities were included in the ranking.
– We have ambitious aims for developing the export of educational services, and we can achieve them by combining modern educational technologies, innovative approach, the best traditions of the Soviet school and international experience. Besides the goal for doubling the foreign students’ number in the next 5 years, the most important one for us is to attract talented young people to the country, employ them in Russia and increase incomes from the educational services export. We consider the education export as a full area of economic activity, –  said the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Mikhail Kotyukov. – Thanks to the resources of the national projects "Education" and "Science" we have the opportunity to approach the work with different groups of foreign applicants differentially. We provide constant training of teachers, development of universities and cities infrastructure. This is an investment in the brand "Russian education", which should regain its leadership in the most prestigious world rankings in the coming years.
The QS ranking takes into account various university indicators: level of academic reputation and reputation among employers, the ratio of teaching staff and students, number of publications, participation in international researches, university place in Webometrics ranking, number of PhD staff, citations of publications, number of foreign students.
– Presence in international rankings is an indicator of a good scientific and educational climate at the university. DSTU has been included in the ranking "Emerging Europe and Central Asia" in the group 251-300 for three years. Analysts traditionally emphasize our advantages: the ratio of foreign and Russian students, the number of academic staff with degree and reputation among employers, – said DSTU rector Besarion Meskhi. – Today DSTU is transferring to the digital university, acting as a project coordinator for creation a Southern scientific and educational center, – these and other steps will strengthen our positions in international and Russian rankings.
