DSTU HELD INTERNATIONAL ONLINE-CONFERENCE “THE ROLE OF UNIVERSITIES IN THE IMPLEMENTATION OF SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS”
On March 24-25, DSTU held an international online-conference “The role of universities in the implementation of sustainable development goals”. Representatives of Ministries of education, administration and academic staff of universities, educational organizations and professional associations of Russia, Portugal, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Uzbekistan and other countries shared cutting-edge information in Russian and English about the role of universities in the implementation of Sustainable Development Goals.
Conference participants shared their experience on the following topics:
-    Network cooperation of vocational and higher education systems. New models and best practices
-    Engineering education in the new economy. Experience in implementing international programs
-    Strategies of interaction between universities and enterprises: development of work-based learning
-    Society 4.0.
Besarion Meskhi, DSTU Rector, took part as chairman of the Committee for the international online conference and the co-chair was Vice-rector for Academic and International Affairs of DSTU Alexey Beskopylnyy.
- DSTU pays attention to issues related to updating, innovations of educational models at all educational levels. In the rapid development of science, education, technology and our life overall, in accordance with statistic data, people change their professional competencies each 5-7 years, commented Alexey Beskopylnyy. – Universities participate in world rankings, share with us their abilities, and respond to challenges of society. The number of foreign students around the world is doubling every year.
In conference framework, plenary sessions, discussions, roundtables are held on the development of engineering pedagogy and engineering education, the interaction of higher and vocational education systems, network partnerships between universities and the labor market, technologies of workplace training etc.
The conference is held within the framework of the Erasmus+ program projects «The Engineering Educators Pedagogical Training» (ENTER), «HE and VET alliance establishment according to Bologna Principles  implementation via VET teachers’ capacity building» (ALLVET),  «Development of a flexible, innovative and practical framework for Work-based Learning in higher education of Armenia and Russia» (FlexWBL).
