DSTU STARTS TO TRAIN LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE SPECIALISTS
In 2022, DSTU is launching enrollment for a new Bachelor’s degree program “Landscape architecture” that will enable students to acquire theoretical knowledge and practical experience in the field of design, planning and ergonomic organization of open spaces.
During the training process, students will get information on the basis of landscape art, learn innovative practices and new design technologies. Developing a new approach to organizing urban space, will allow graduates to use green infrastructure in their work, design a comfortable, urban safe and socially oriented environment.
-    “A profession of landscape architecture is based not only in a creative approach. The main part of planning and projecting a territory is not limited by making sketches and designs but it also includes drawing up clear schemes of the territory. Therefore, it is important to add a part of rationalism to artistic thinking. Such specialist is a skilled designer who can take in mind various factors and find optimal engineering solutions. It becomes more important in big cities with dense development of territories and a catastrophic lack of green zones,” said Head of the “Engineering and Computer Graphics” department associate professor Maksim Egorov.  - Landscape architecture is not only parks building, but also the formation of open spaces of cities and other populated places based on careful study of the landscape.
According to Maxim Egorov, the landscape architect works at the confluence of four sciences - engineering, biology, history, geology that are in the basis of the new degree program.
Leading researchers in these fields are practitioners, representatives of large Russian and foreign landscape bureaus, heads of state structures are involved in training process.
The main principle of implementation the program “Landscape architecture” is practice orientation. Our students will obtain practical knowledge and skills in landscape design, garden and park art, monitoring the state and accounting of plantations, and managing systems of green areas in natural and urbanized landscapes. The practice bases will be objects of Rostov and Rostov region, Sochi National Park, Nikitsky Botanical Garden - National Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Crimea).
Graduates of the program will be able to work in companies aimed at development of territories: construction and development firms, organizations specializing on the repair and improvement of space.
The educational process will start in September 2022 in full-time.
