10 Aims
The discipline aims students to get basic knowledge and practical skills in biological foundations of nutrition, methods of its control, as well as organization of food supply in various natural and economic zones of the country.

11 Competences to be developed:

Generic:
- oral presentation, communication skills;
- teamwork;
- analytical skills,
- ability to formulate problems,
- ability to effectively search for, find, systemize and analyze data,
- collaborative and leadership skills.
Specific:
Ability to operate professional methods and special tools:
- assessment of natural and socio-economic factors causing animal diseases,
- measures preventing infectious, parasitic and non-infectious animal diseases,
- health-promotion measures to form a healthy livestock,
- providing recommendations on animal keeping and feeding,
- assessment of medical supervision efficiency of healthy and sick animals,
- prescribing adequate (therapeutic and surgical) treatment in accordance with the diagnosis,
- following the algorithm of medicaments and non-drug therapy choice for animals with infectious, parasitic and noninfectious diseases,
- following the rules of medicines handling,
- using the basic principles of organization of medical dietary feeding of sick and healthy animals.

12 Learning outcomes Upon successful completion of the discipline students will be able to: 

Upon successful completion of the discipline students will be able to:
- analyze factors influencing forage structure and nutritiousness depending on a zone of cultivation;
- select forage crops;
- formulate concepts of a ration, structure and nutritiousness of a diet;
- apply methods of balancing a diet, preparing high-quality forage;
- to make rations of feeding of cows according to the lactation periods taking into account changes of a physiological state and level of efficiency;
- to make rations of feeding of pigs, sheep, horses, bird, carnivores, unproductive animals;
- to apply methods of assessment of fodder and fodder components;
- to use visual and applied methods of assessment of feeding quality;
- to assess condition of animals, detecting diseases caused by a metabolic disorder
