    2. Aim of the programme
    To prepare professional specialists able to use effectively the basic theoretical knowledge and innovative technologies in order to provide social protection and support of different categories of population in various spheres of life.
    2.1. Distinctive features of the programme
    -  practioners, representatives of large Russian business, heads of state structures are involved in the teaching process;
    -  choice of learning paths in accordance with business and career priorities of student (students can choose disciplines of specialization);
    -  a combination of practical training with research work which develop analytical skills;
    -  scientific seminars under the author's supervision of leading professors of the Faculty to make specialization of students deeper;
    - wide opportunities for development of business career in domestic and foreign companies, government agencies, social institutions, a high demand for graduates in the labor market;
    -  the Department participates in the international project TEMPUS IV;
    -  training in small groups.

    Students demonstrate the ability to:
    - give an objective assessment of various social phenomena and processes taking place in society;
    - take into account the specificity of  social health and socio-cultural development of the object of social assistance;
    - justify  logically the  expressed view;
    - read professional literature in a foreign language;
    - understand the needs of society and personality and the possibilities of socio-cultural knowledge in solving individual-personal and social problems;
    - use the mechanisms of social and pedagogical, medico-social, social and psychological patronage, regulation of social action and interaction;
    - allocate different social, medico-social and psychological problems of clients;
    - exercise self-control of the state of the body and use the physical training to optimize their  working capacity; 
    - possess the basic skills and abilities necessary to implement the practice of psychosocial, structural and complex-oriented social work.

    6.1. Learning and teaching approaches  
    • Subject-oriented technologies of training.
    • Personality-oriented technologies of training.
    • Information and communication technologies:
    - To hold lectures with usage of multimedia tools, problem, interactive, interdisciplinary lectures, etc.;
    - Extensive use of interactive forms of group sessions: conducting trainings, discussions, "brainstorming", the method of small groups, educational business games, preparation of written analytical works, research workshop.
    As part of the training sessions there are be meetings with representatives of state and public organizations, workshops of experts and specialists.

      6.2. Assessment methods
    Evaluation methods are provided by the Fund of evaluation tools for monitoring, interim control, examinations.
