10 Aims
The discipline aims students to gain a system of knowledge and skills in the field of behavior genetics, get familiar with methodological fundamentals as well as modern scientific achievements in the above field, apply the acquired competences when working in the fields of psychology, pedagogy and medicine. Along with strengthening knowledge and skills in anatomy of the central nervous system and physiology of the higher nervous activity, of developmental psychology the discipline will extend students’ understanding of abnormal psychology, of the role of genetics and environmental factors in development of an individual.

Specific:
- ability to use methodologies and modern scientific achievements of behavior genetics

12 Learning outcomes  

Upon successful completion of the discipline students will be able to:

• Memorize and differentiate the types of inheritance;
• Reproduce behavior genetics diagnostic instruments;
• Name terms and definitions of behavior genetics;
• Report stages of formation and development of behavior genetics in Russia and abroad;
• Categorise peculiarities of restrictions in application of the twin method.
• Identify type of inheritance of psychological and psychophysiological features;
• Describe inherited EEG variants in humans;
• Know the molecular-genetic determinants of the brain neurotransmitter systems;
• Discriminate hereditary and environmental influences during ontogenesis.
• Memorize the types of hereditary diseases;
• Create and justify the program of behavior genetics research;
• Analyze data received during diagnostic stage.
